Sometimes an organization may decide to scale back on its fundraising and focus more on the states providing the majority of its donations and support.
In this case, it is very important not to just “let the registration lapse” in the affected states. Steps need to be taken in order to dissolve or close your registration.
Some states only require a letter from the organization but others require a final filing or specific withdrawal forms to be submitted.
If proper action is not taken late fees on lapsed registration may accrue, the registration may have to be brought current and all fees and penalties paid prior to allowing the dissolution to occur.
